It’s been since 2011 that our Lady Vikings took their full team to the MHSAA Finals, so it would be an understatement to say they were on a mission at the MHSAA Regional on Saturday in Jackson. Our Vikings made it exciting by finishing a mere 1 point ahead of Springport to capture that final spot to qualify for the state finals next Saturday at Michigan International Speedway. It was a race of inches between Potterville(92pts.), Springport(93pts.), and LCS(97pts.). Freshman Caleigh Winters(16th) led the way once again, followed by Kylee Marcussen(18th), and Natalie Halsey(19th) who ran very strong races start to finish. Our difference maker this day was the outstanding race turned in by freshman Alyssa Wabindato, finishing 23rd with a career best time of 23:04. Emily Walter rounded out our scoring with a 30th place, while Tara Dawdy raced hard to finish just in front of Springport’s 5th runner to secure our team’s place. A good return from injury by Natalie Schafor made the small victory even more exciting. Great job ladies!
